Nursery Design Trends! What's HOT RIGHT NOW!

We are often asked about current (and future) trends for nurseries and so we thought it was time for us to put some of our thoughts down for you all. Designing a nursery is one of the most exciting aspects of your pregnancy. From choosing the theme to the special little pieces that finish the space. We often hear that the décor items in nurseries can become lifetime favourites for your littlest loves. There’s so much inspiration out there online, on Instagram or Facebook and it can be overwhelming, especially if this is the first nursery you’ve designed.

Enough “talking” I hear you say – Let’s get on and you show some of our favourite trends to look out for at the moment!

Under the Sea

Splash into some fun and adventure and create a space where stories can be told, and sea creatures become the best of friends. We are seeing a surge in all things oceanic and we expect this trend to grow. Whether it’s whales, mermaids or fish as Wall Decals or as Prints, they are all gaining popularity. Try something fun like, using a two-toned wall paint in smokey blue or sage greens to really maximise this fun trend.

Blooms a Plenty

We can’t see a time where pretty florals, soft pinks and muted tones won’t be “on-trend” for girl’s nurseries. They are timeless and if you get the design right you can update it easily when floral undertones are your central theme. Daisies, peonies, butterflies and pretty blooms are all perfectly placed in this theme. Removable wall decals give you flexibility to change the styling easily, and we are loving seeing floral bedding with floral accents on the walls. A girl can never have too many flowers surely!

Coastal Boho

This trend has us swooning and trying to convince our husbands to let us redecorate the kid’s rooms again (for the 3rd time in as many years LOL). Cornflower blues, earthy coral and terracotta tones matched with textured pieces and layers of block colours and patterns fabrics make this trend one for the senses. This is one style you can really have some fun with, we love to see art-works and wall decals coupled with decorative balloons, rattan items and fun plush animals that tie the space together. We predict this will be one of the big trends of 2021 too, and we are totally OK with that!

Geometric paint jobs

Go bold and create a serious impression with paint. This is of the fastest moving trends this year. Graphic and geometric designs painted straight onto the walls. This is an easy and fun way to make your nursery unique and don’t be afraid to play with colour. Keep the design simple, use colours that will bring your theme together – Moody greens, smokey blues, corals and terracottas are some of the biggest colour trends at the moment.

Statement Pieces

We can’t all use bespoke murals or paint our walls to suit a trend, but we can certainly make an impression with a Central Statement Piece. A fun chandelier, unique oversized art-work, a vintage rocking chair or even an indoor swing – statement pieces are fun and versatile and a great way to change a space easily.

Leafy Greens

Not a new trend but certainly an evolving one. This year’s take on botanicals sees a ramping up of the use of greenery and you can expect botanicals to show up in wall decals, wallpaper, bedding, garlands and more. Whether is earthy tones with shades of green foliage accents or an all-out homage to leafy greens, a it’s a great way to soften a design, and perfect for a gender neutral room.

That's our round up of the top nursery design trends at the moment. Which one of these trends is your favorite?
